Discipline

So today Rajeed decided it was tantrum day...lol what a day it was!! he threw a fit for falling, another for not being allowed to get his own way, another for not being allowed to play with the cord for the computer, another for being prevented form going outside when it was eating time and the list goes on..DWL.

When I realized he was getting into the phase were he understood what was being said and also was exploring more i decided to start flicking him on his hands when he touched stuff he shouldn't at times i would hit him on his hand. I'm not a lover of such punishments but they all came with explanations of why mommy didn't want her baby to touch which I was told I must do in order for him to understand why he was being punished. Feels weird explaining to him but I am getting the hang of it. Now I have even employed time outs, they seem to work a little better than the hitting (thank God!) His time outs consist of me removing him from whatever the cause was and placing him on the bed, it took awhile to get him to stay there but after a few times he got the picture. After he cries it out he would eventually start playing on the bed with either the pillows or whatever books or toys that are on the night stand. After 10 minutes I get him and have a little chat which is me explaining why he was in time out and then we play together.

Last week his aunt and I went to the book store after a little reading session WE got up and walked over to some books I was intrested in. Rajeed insisted on pulling the books off the shelves even when i was telling him no. So after I pulled him away he threw the biggest fit I've ever seen him throw... So i simply walked away while e rolled and screamed when he realize i wasn't paying him any attention and that people were looking at him he quickly got up and came after me. I've seen mothers beat their kids in public if they did something like this but its not right. Kids do things to see what we will do and for attention. Try and be patient its hard at times but it will pay off in the end.
